13 Reasons Why We Can Hold On to Life

If you’re reading this, it’s not too late for you.

In a world that is full of challenges, uncertainty, pain – and now, a global pandemic – it is easy to forget God’s beautiful promises for you and just give up.

The good thing is: God never gives up on you!

When you got a number of reasons to give up, God gives you 13 reasons and more to hold on to life and keep goingTake a moment to soak in these 13 promises that prove there is hope in Him.

1. God loves you.

People who have been hurt so deeply tend to feel that God doesn’t love them anymore. Truth is, Your Heavenly Father loves you so much that no anxiety, depression, or struggle can separate you from Him!

“Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

2. God is with you.

Do you feel like the world has turned its back on you and you have no one to turn toDon’t be deceived by what you feel. You are not aloneYou don’t have to fear for He is with you wherever you go.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

3. God hears you.

He knows every single concern you have. Go ahead. Tell Him everything that is causing you so much pain. He hears you whenever you cry, and He is ready to wipe away all your tears.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. (1 John 5:14)

4. God’s plans for you are good.

It’s easy to dismiss God’s love when there’s so much pain around, right?

You ask, “Can anything good come out from this suffering?” The answer: He already declared hope and victory upon your life, and you should, too! Trust and see that His plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

5. Pain is temporary.

No matter how overwhelmed you are right now with your situationknow that it will come to pass. Your weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

It might be difficult to believe at first, but God won’t allow you to remain hopeless for so long.

6. Your life has a greater purpose.

Don’t fall to the lie that your life doesn’t matter. You don’t just exist – you are created and are alive for greater meaning and purpose! And as long as you are still breathing, God’s not done with you yet.

But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. (Psalm 33:11)

7. God promises peace.

If your worries and problems make you feel restless, Philippians 4:7 promises that God gives the kind of peace that cannot be taken away, And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

8. God will strengthen you.

Do you feel weak? Remember that God gives power to the faint and to those who have no might He increases strength (Isaiah 40:29). In every season, He promises to help you.

9. God forgives you.

Are you crippled by sins and you’re afraid that nobody can accept you anymore? Don’t be afraid! There is no shame nor condemnation in God.

He is forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to Him (Psalm 86:5). Call on Him now and receive His mercy!

10. God makes a way.

Are you in a bad place right now? May you be comforted that even when the circumstances seem impossible, Your Heavenly Father will make a way. He is moving in your life, right here, right now.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19)

11. God heals.

He is not just close to the brokenhearted, He heals them and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).

No matter how deep your physical and emotional wounds are, God can heal and restore you from the inside out.

12. God knows your pain.

Isn’t comforting to know that someone out there understands how you feel? Jesus knows how to feel for you because He Himself suffered betrayal and physical pain. Therefore, He knows how to comfort you! When He promised, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” (Matthew 5:4), you can stand on His Word, confident that He will fulfill it.

13. God promises eternity.

Sometimes, you find yourself too caught up in today’s problems that it’s hard to see tomorrow’s promises. 2 Corinthians 4:17 reminds that despite the troubles, there is an eternal glory waiting for you, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

If you’re reading this, it’s never too late for you.

Hang in there! Hold on to life because your suffering, no matter how deep and painful, is not permanent. Open your Bible and open your heart to the thousands of beautiful promises He has for you. No matter the weather, His promises would carry you above any storm – He’s done it before, and He will do it again.

Are you having a hard time believing in God’s promises? Allow us to pray for you. Call us at 8737-0700 or send in your prayer requests to the CBN Asia or The 700 Club Asia Facebook page.

Called to Reach: Is It Possible to Reach Nations with Diverse Beliefs?

“We’re all in this together!”

Iseemed to become everybody’s cheer in this time of global pandemic. Regardless of race, religion or culture, the world is one in fighting the unseen enemy. This only goes to show that solidarity, unity, and hope could still come out from a tight corner.

If you’re wondering how you can reach out to more people of diverse beliefs, here are 3 simple ways to show love and care this World Day for Cultural Diversity.

1. Understand diversity

God teaches in His Word that the human race is one, “From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth.” While that is absolutely truefactors like gender, race, religion, culture and economic background also come to the picture like puzzle pieces that make up someone’s identity.

Although diversity somewhat divides people, God is not concerned about someone’s country or skin color. He loved and saved the whole world, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

As His children, there is this special calling to understand other cultures and people groupslove others beyond their beliefs, and respect people despite the differences.

2. Pray for nations

Have you experienced waking up one day and thinking about the hungry people in Africa? How about those who are caught in armed conflicts in Afghanistan? Moving closer to home, have you ever thought of the most vulnerable families in the Philippines?

God promises that He hears those who pray and seek His face. He also said that He will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). But who prays for those who can’t? Who will pray for those who doesn’t know God yet?

When God said in Ezekiel 22:30, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one, it is clear that you are called to stand in that gap.

You are given the privilege to be the beacon of light to those who haven’t seen it yet by praying for the poor, persecuted, enslavedvulnerable, hurting, and sick. Above all, pray for the unreached among nations, that they may also experience the glory and comfort of God.

3. Support missions

As a loving Father, God wants every nation to experience His grace and glory, “But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:16)

One way of actively proclaiming His name is by supporting the missions.

Do you know that you can still be missional during quarantine? Wherever you are right now, you can still reach out to nations and share God’s love to the world by supporting those who are called to go and preach the gospel.

May you be blessed a thousand-fold for your love for the nations!

Do you want to reach out to diverse nations and bring the love of God to millions of hurting people?

Good news! You can now do it from the comfort of your home. Partner with the Asian Center for Missions (ACM) today and help proclaim the gospel to the world. You may also visit and message their Facebook page to know more.

Is Reading the Bible Really Necessary?

How do you remain unafraid and unworried by the changing seasons in your life? In hard times, where do you turn to for guidance and direction? One of the ways to know what God wants to tell you is through His Word – the Bible. What is the Bible? The Holy Bible is a collection of 66 books that accounts God’s action in the world, and His purpose with all creation. God inspired and used different authors to write the Bible as said in 2 Peter 1:21, “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” It is “God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) You may ask, “Do I have to read the Bible?” Yes. Apart from getting direction in life, God also offers His Word in the Bible so He can reveal Himself to you. And just like how newborn babies need milk to survive, new followers of Jesus also need His Word to flourish. It is the key to your spiritual growth and strengthened faith! Depriving yourself of this “spiritual food” will hinder your growth. So, how does one grow by reading the Bible? Before you accepted God as your Lord and Savior, you may have lived by the world’s standards. But don’t worry, He is now transforming your life! Now that you are in Him, He has opened your heart that you may understand the Bible as the ultimate standard for all the areas of your life. The more you read and hear it, the more it helps your faith grow!
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
What does the Bible reveal? As you read, study, and meditate on the Bible, you would be amazed about the many things it reveals about God and yourself. God. Have you ever wondered about the true characteristics of God? The Bible reveals them. Apart from the truth that God is the Creator of the ends of the earth (Isaiah 40:28), it also reveals that God is love (1 John 4:8), holy (Isaiah 6:3), faithful (1 Corinthians 10:13), and all-knowing (1 John 3:20). He is also gracious, righteous, and is full of compassion! (Psalm 116:5). You. The Bible helps you discover your identity and purpose in life. You are a child of God (John 1:12), chosen and appointed (John 15:16), and created in His own image (Genesis 1:27). It also reveals that “God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) Isn’t it amazing that the Creator of heaven and earth has written a book for you? He wants you to discover His treasures of truth, grace, and glory through it! He wants you to study the Bible so you may experience His transforming love. Got questions about the Bible? Ready for the ‘New Normal’? Here are 5 Tips to Help You Cope

As the government begins to ease imposed quarantine in some parts of the country, you might be wondering what lies ahead of you in a post-pandemic world.

Truth is, nobody knows what the future brings or when all of this would be over.

But, you don’t have to worry! You can still prepare yourself as you enter the ‘new normal’ or the state of being after a dramatic change has transpired.

Here are some tips to help you adjust and gradually embrace the changes in your environment.

Tip #1: Accept the ‘new normal’

Without a doubt, the pandemic is changing the country’s transportation, education, health, and economic system. It is changing the way people live, too.

The question is, “Are you ready for change?”

If you’re still having second thoughts, perhaps it’s about time to embrace the reality that is right before your eyes. Being resistant to change and feeling angry about the ‘new normal’ could leave you powerless in facing what lies ahead.

The book Understanding and Enhancing Psychological Acceptance says acceptance can be a powerful tool in coping with the inevitable distress and helps one achieve important behavior changes which may lead to an enhanced quality of life.

Tip #2: Be wise and obedient

As you set foot once again onto the busy roads, bear in mind that the threat of being exposed to the virus is still present. Stay informed about the rules implemented in your community and workplace, and obey them accordingly.

Tip #3: Learn and unlearn

From everyday wearing of face masks to social distancing, be ready to learn and practice new habits. For your safety, you might also want to unlearn or avoid old ways of greeting such as handshakes, hugs, and even the Filipino custom pagmamano.

Adapt new skills or behaviour and start looking for new options and opportunities. Are you ready for online classes or work from home setups? What are your plans for your business? Rethink, re-imagine and reinvent how post-quarantine life would be.

Tip #4: Take care of your mental health

Clinical Psychologist Steven Taylor in his The Guardian article said that 25% of respondents of his ongoing research have developed COVID stress syndrome. They worry about the social and economic impact of the virus, persistently check COVID-19-related news, and have nightmares and intense fears about becoming infected.

And while staying at home keeps people safer from the virus, the isolation, confinement, and social changes brought by the pandemic can cause anxiety during and after the quarantine.

The good news? You can cope! Asia Society suggests some tips to help you with your mental health: Breathe and stay calm, engage more in healthy activities, stay connected with family and friends, take breaks from breaking news, and take online consultations if needed. Remember, your mental health is as important as your physical health.

Be more patient and kinder to people, too. Everyone is adjusting and coping with the ‘new normal’, just like you.

Tip#5: Make prayers part of your ‘new normal’

In a world where everything can change in just one snap of a finger, the love of God remains constant. He is always by your side, and no pandemic can change that.

Connect with Him through prayers and be in faith that your Heavenly Father hears your prayers.

May you feel the depth, extent, and height of His love in the ‘new normal’ and beyond!

Do you have ideas and visions of what the ‘new normal’ is going to look like? Share it with us in the comments below! Also, our Prayer Center would love to pray for you as you navigate these life changes. Feel free to send your prayer requests to the CBN Asia and The 700 Club Asia Facebook pages.

One Prayer Away: Answering the What, Why, and How of Prayer

Prayer. You have probably heard the word countless times, but have you ever asked yourself what prayer really means? Do you wonder if God really hears your prayers? What is prayer? Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is more than just believing in Him. It is a constant walk and journeying with Him. And just like any other relationship you have, your relationship with God would not flourish without communication. So, how do you communicate with your Heavenly Father? God communicates with His children in many ways. One of them is through His Word in the Bible. On the other hand, His children can communicate with Him through prayers. In prayer, you are connected to God. Whenever you pray and talk to Him, you can be sure that He hears you, sees you and understands you. He even understands your prayer even if you cannot find the right words to say. He knows what your heart is crying out for. If God already knows everything, then why do I still need to pray? It’s true that God knows you better than you know yourself. He knows everything about you because He created you in His image (Genesis 1:27). Because you are created in His image, you are also called to imitate His behavior. Jesus showed an utmost importance on praying when He Himself prayed.
“Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.” (Mark 1:35)
When Jesus prayed, you are also called to pray as an act of obedience. Isn’t it amazing to know that you are given a special opportunity to spend quality time with a Holy God? Every prayer time is a time to talk to Him, hear from Him, lift your requests to Him, and rest in His presence. Praying helps you fight the enemy. It is also a path to finding the answers to your struggles, as said in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.” How should I pray? The way Jesus prayed is the best example of how you can pray. His prayer life showed how He wholeheartedly communicated with God the Father. Luke 5:16 retells that Jesus “would withdraw to desolate places and pray.” What does the Bible say then about praying like Jesus? Pray to the Father in secret, as said in Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Pray in the Name of Jesus, as said in John 14:6, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” What can I pray for? In response to His disciples’ request, Jesus taught them to pray. In Matthew 6:9-13, it is worth noting that the prayer starts with glorifying God. Then, you can then pray for God’s will to be done in your life, in your family, in your community, and in the whole world.
“Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)
You may also pray for God’s provision, that He may supply your family’s needs.
“Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)
Then, ask God to forgive you from your sins, and to help you forgive those who hurt you.
“and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12)
Lastly, pray that the Lord will give you the victory from the enemy.
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:13)
Will God hear my prayers? This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15) God has given His children the opportunity to come to Him through prayers any time, any day. As John 1:12 says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” His heart remains open to those who want to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. May you find joy as you pray and seek Him each day! Do you want to know more about prayers? PUSH Pilipinas, CBN Asia’s online show is here to help you and pray with you! Catch it next Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 8:00 PM on the CBN Asia, The 700 Club Asia and Batang Superbook Facebook pages.

Hitting the Road after Quarantine? Here’s Your Practical Guide to a Safe Journey

As soon as this enhanced community quarantine is over, people are expecting to go back to their normal lives and routine – traveling included.

This Road Safety Month, here are some reminders to ensure your safety as you head out once again onto the busy roads after the quarantine:

Check if your vehicle is in a good condition

Ever heard of the term BLOWBAGETS? Before you get going, make it a habit to check your Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, BrakesAir, Gas, Engine, Tires, and Self. Are you physically and emotionally fit to take over the steering wheel?

Be licensed for the vehicle drive and know how to react in case of a crash

Before hitting the road, make sure that you have your license with you. Being a licensed driver is as important as being a well-trained driver. Both would save yourself and your loved ones from harm and trouble! Also, knowing the hotlines to call and keeping a first aid kit in your vehicle would help you respond to emergencies.

Know and respect the highway codes and laws

The traffic signs and laws aren’t signs and laws for nothing. They are proven effective and essential in keeping things in order, and in saving lives. Educating yourself and obeying these laws show how you value your own life and the lives of others.

Drive at a safe speed and distance suitable for the condition

Speed is a risk. It is a major factor in fatal crashes. Thousands of people perish every year because of road accidents. Slowing down helps reduce those numbers.

Do not drive tired or under the influence of alcohol

A glass of alcohol equates to a higher risk on the roads. It affects your driving ability and it is time to change that! Meanwhile, 20% of road accidents on major roads are due to tiredness. Stay sober and well-rested if you need to hit the road.

Do not use mobile phones when driving

You are 4 times likely to crash, injure or kill yourself if you do so. Whether you’re stuck in the traffic, the Anti-Distracted Driving Act says that calling, texting or even playing games using your phone is a no-no.

Use a seatbelt/child car seats

Are you driving your own car? Keep the kids safe by installing child car seats and keeping them buckled up. Child car seats give 80% protection to your kids on the road – an extra expense to protect a life. Moreso, the Global Status Report on road safety says that wearing seat belts can reduce the risk of death or serious injury by 40-50%.

Wear a helmet on a motorcycle

Doing so should be a priority especially in South East Asian countries where motorcycles account for up to 75% of all registered vehicles, according to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent SocietiesDon’t worry if your helmet looks uncomfortable or it messes up with your hair, what’s more important is to remember that helmets reduce the risk of brain damage by 70% in the event of a crash.

Be visible as a pedestrian or cyclist

50% of the world’s road traffic deaths are among pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. As a pedestrian, be extra mindful of your environment. As a driver, it is also your responsibility to look out for other road users.

Pray for safety

Before you embark on any journey, always ask God to protect you from any harm that may come your way. Pray for focus, wisdom, and traveling mercies. Be in faith that God is your refuge and He will keep you safe.

My God is my rock. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. (2 Samuel 22:3)

Road accidents have claimed many lives.

Like staying at home during this quarantine to care for other people’s welfare, road safety is everybody’s responsibility. It is choosing to honor the laws of the land, care for the community, and respect God-given lives.

The choice is yours to make.

Do you need someone to join you in praying for your family’s safety and protectionCall the CBN Asia Prayer Center at 8737-0700 and we are here to pray with you.

Looking for Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day while on ECQ? Check These Out

Having a nice and fancy dinner at her favorite restaurant may be a little difficult at this time.

In this season of social distancing, you might be wondering, “How can I show appreciation to my “Wonder Mom” this Mother’s Day?”

Fret not! Check out these 3 simple yet surefire ways of treating the significant woman in your life, while staying safe indoors.

Tip #1: Be resourceful and creative!

There are many ways to show your appreciation – sing her favorite song, cook her favorite meal, or create a handmade gift.

You may also take a trip down memory lane by compiling her old photos and paste them into a collage artwork. If your mom is into technology, you might want to upload those snaps in a digital album with a caption that comes from the heart.

One of the pro tips suggested by the Los Angeles Times in its article 7 ways to celebrate Mother’s Day when you need to keep distance, is to organize a virtual party. Gather her closest friends and family members in a group video call and ask them to share a photo, story, or message for your mom.

Let her know that she is valued and loved.

Tip #2: Be present, even without a present

Gifts are great, but nothing beats spending quality time with the woman who loves you the most.

More than just watching movies together or offering an extra hand for the chores, take this quarantine season as an opportunity to sit down and talk about life over coffee.

Tell her some things about your life today. If she’s open about her childhood, you might want to ask her about her fun memories and learning experiences growing up.

You would surely appreciate the wisdom God has blessed her through the years.

Tip #3: Pray for mom, pray with mom

You have seen the woman as your loving mother, but a loving God sees her as a daughter, too.

Whether you’ve done this before or you haven’t, isn’t this a perfect time to come to God and invite your mother in a prayer? You might find it awkward at first but don’t worry, God will help you through it.

Ask God to give your mother wisdom and strength for the most mundane tasks up to the most challenging ones. Pray for God to protect and guide her physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Speak blessings upon her life and uplift her spirits with encouraging words. Allow God to work His way through your mother’s heart.

After you pray, give her a tight hug! This might be a simple gesture, but this is sure to warm her heart.

You may have heard this Bible verse countless times, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12). But have you ever tried to view it in a different light?

This Mother’s Day, it is also good to remember that while you don’t have a perfect mother, you have a perfect God. No one has an everlasting mother, but you have an everlasting God. He is so good that while you are here on earth, He blessed you with a mother who loves you, cares for you, and helps nurture your mind, body, and soul. Honoring mothers is a privilege and fulfillment of His design and Word.

Thank God for moms!

Are you struggling in your relationship with your mother? Allow us to pray for you. You may call the CBN Asia Prayer Center at 8737-0700 or send your prayer requests to our Facebook page.

Choosing to Accept God | Why it Matters

Every day, you are faced with an endless amount of choices. Some are small while some can change the course of your life in an instant.

Are you looking for your purpose in life? Do you wonder what really matters and what’s going to happen after this life?

Today, you can make that decision about God that will change how you view life, death, and eternity.

The Lord and Savior

In Romans 3:23, Paul said, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” In chapter 6 of the same book, he said, “…the wages of sin is death…” (v. 23a)

If everyone sinned and will receive an eternal death, where should we put our hope in?

Here is good news! In Romans 6:23b, it is said that “…the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

If you want to be saved from eternal death, you can start with acknowledging Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This is a personal decision you can wholeheartedly accept from Jesus who offers salvation from sin and the consequences of sin.

Make Him the Lord of every area of your life.

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

At this point you must be asking, “But why?” Why do you have to make this choice?

This takes you back to the story of Pilate in Matthew 27.

“What shall I do with Jesus?”

Pilate asked the same question when he faced Jesus 2,000 years ago.

During that time, Jesus was betrayed by Judas and arrested by Roman soldiers. He was then facing Pilate who thinks he holds Jesus’ fate in his hands.

Sitting on the judge’s seat, Pilate asked a question that caused everyone to stop and think.

“…What shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” (Matthew 27:22)

It is uncertain whether Pilate fully grasped the magnitude of his own question, nor understood that he was making a decision that would affect his soul for all eternity. The immediate answer that came from the people was to crucify Jesus and that is exactly what happened.

Today, you are faced with the same question. What are you going to do with Jesus? Will you accept Him as your Lord and Savior? Or you will reject Him?

You are free to choose

Path of pleasures or path of righteousness? Heaven or hell? Eternal life or eternal death? Jesus Christ or the world?

In making this decision, there is no middle ground. Although God has given you free will and the freedom to choose, there are consequences you cannot overpower.

The Word of God made it clear that accepting or rejecting Jesus as Lord and Savior have eternal consequence.

“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32-33)

Wherever you are right now, know that God sees and hears you. He is simply waiting for you to make your life-changing decision today:

What shall you do with Jesus? Do you want to accept Him in your life as your Lord and Savior?
