Feeling Insecure? Here are 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t be

Do you ever feel like you don’t measure up to other people’s standard of beauty no matter how hard you try?

Don’t beat yourself up! You are beautifulsecure, and loved. Here are 3 reasons why you should believe that, from CBN Asia’s Holy Week Special, Wanda’s Wonderful World:

1. Your Creator is beautiful

Wanda, played by actress Coney Reyes, grew up looking for love in all the wrong places. Abandoned at such a young age, she tried to fill the vacancy that sits in her heart by entering a series of relationships – thinking that people can give her the security she needed.

Ultimately, your true beauty and security come from the one who made you – and you were made in the image of a perfect God! (Genesis 1:27)

God exists in perfect beauty. The Bible assures that God Himself is beautiful“His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” (Revelation 1:16), which only means that the work of His hands, including you, are beautiful too!

2. You are wonderfully made.

The story of Wanda is a story of a woman who found her wholeness in God, just like how God made her. How would you feel if you’re told that you’re intricately designed with so much love and care?

Psalm 139:13-14 made it clear that you’re created uniquely, wonderfully, and with a purpose, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Apart from creating you, God has also saved you from sins and eternal darkness by offering Himself at the cross. You are loved, you are valued. And it’s evident in all the wondrous things God has done for you.

3. His perfect love casts out all fears… and insecurities!

When Wanda accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior, her perception of beauty, acceptance, and security changed. Finding the greatest love in God, she became more beautiful, grateful, and radiant.

Continue to look to God, because those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed (Psalm 34:5). As someone transformed by the securing love of God, let His goodness radiate through you!

As you accept Him, have faith that His perfect love for you can silence your inner critic! Believe that He sees and accepts you for who you really are, and that’s enough reason for you to be happy with who you are today. Praise God for creating you just as you are!

The skin will soon wrinkle, the face will age. It’s just a matter of time before the earthly beauty fades away but the beauty of a person after God’s own heart remains forever.

Now that you’ve found your true beauty and identity in Jesus Christ, nothing – and no one, can ever neglect you. In a world where the standard of beauty is ever-changing, nothing – and no one can ever diminish your value once you’ve put your security in God.

May you find joy as you embrace the beautiful person God designed you to be!

Coney Reyes Shares 7 Tips to Avoid Heartbreaks

Heartbreaks could be incredibly painful, but they are avoidable.

As you spend some quality time with God this Holy Week, learn how to also love yourself more from actress-host Coney Reyes. Here are 7 tips she shared on how to avoid getting heartbroken.

1. Honor your parents. Listen to them.

Ephesians 6:1-3 says, “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. ‘Honor your father and mother.’ This is the 1st commandment with a promise. If you honor your father and mother, ‘things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.’”

Honor your parents by listening to their advice. Surely, they have gained wisdom from experience and their advice’s motive is to protect you from getting heartbroken.

2. Choose the right group of friends.

Don’t hang out with the wrong crowd. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Exercise wisdom and caution when choosing your friends.

3. Surround yourself with strong and upright people.

Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

Surround yourself with strong and upright people who will tell you the truth face to face. Be accountable to them.

4. Pray

Cry out to God in prayer. As Philippians 4:6 says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

5. Read the Word.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

6. Pray the Word.

Know the Word of God by heart and pray the promises of God written in it. More than declaring good things for yourself, this will prevent you from being deceived.

1 John 5:14-15 reminds us that “We are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him. And since we know He hears us when we make our requests, we also know that He will give us what we ask for.”

7. Live the Word.

James 1:22 says, Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. You will live a blessed life if you hear the Word of God and obey it. Live out what you read about.

Coney admitted that she made a lot of ‘not-so-healthy’ and ‘not-so-godly decisions’ in the past that led to heartbreaks, but everything turned around when she accepted Jesus Christ in her heart.

“Though I was heartbroken, there were many people praying and fasting for me,” she said and quoted Romans 8:28, “God works things out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”

3 Ways to Honor Our Leaders Even if You Disagree with them

Filipinos shared different thoughts and mixed reactions to how the government has been dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak so far. Some expressed their support to #StayAtHome, while others were outraged and started voicing out their disagreements.

If Romans 13:1-2 NKJV states, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves,” how then can you honor and support the authorities that you disagree with?

Here are 3 things you can do to respect and treat our government leaders with humility, as shared by Beyond Small Talk hosts, Peter Kairuz, Jerico Arceo, and Paul Herrera.

1. Pray for your leaders

1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”

While someone else is getting angry at them, take the road less traveled and pray fervently. Ask God to give the government officials wisdom, grace, and a God-fearing heart as they lead the country.

2. Don’t condemn or curse them on social media

You have the right to voice out your opinions, but you can also disagree in a manner that is gracious and honorable.

As Paul explained, “Respect is earned, but honor is due to a position that is given to a person.”

3. Educate yourself and get involved

As a concerned Filipino citizen, it will be more productive to educate yourself on issues and take proactive steps to better the situation.

Instead of adding to the clamor, encourage yourself and others to be the solution that the country needs.

Things may have not turned out the way you wanted them to be, but you can put your trust in God who is in control and holds all things together.

The Word of God does not lie when it says in Psalm 33:12 NIV, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.”

Think you know about Mental Health? Beyond Small Talk brings it to Light

Many people have preconceived notions about mental health, which is the root of misjudgments and criticisms on people who are going through issues related to it.

To respond to this, Beyond Small Talk, hosts Peter Kairuz, Sonjia Calit, and psychotherapist and counselor Zenia Lim Panahon discusses mental health and what to watch out for to prevent having issues with it especially now as we battle against COVID-19.

Mental health and mental illness are two different things.

Mental health refers to how you feel, behave, and think as a person.

It is a “state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community,” according to the World Health Organization.

“Mental illness, also called mental health disorders, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking, and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors,” as defined by Mayo Clinic.

Factors such as the environment you’re raised in, genetics or heredity, social and economic position, and your temperament can affect your mental health that may cause mental illness.

One of the symptoms you should carefully watch out for is when you experience sadness, happiness, or anger in an overwhelming manner lasting for at least 2 weeks. By this time, it is suggested that you seek professional help.

DO NOT, in any way, self-diagnose or let anyone nor the internet do so to you. This is a very dangerous path to take, Zenia explained.

Some of the negative repercussions to this include misdiagnosis, undetected medical condition, and underdiagnosis or overdiagnosis that lead to inaccurate treatment says Comprehensive Consultation Psychological Services in their blog entitled The Dangers Of Self-Diagnosis.

The key is to not assume but visit a trained health professional.

Sadly, according to the Department of Health, as cited by Philippine Star in their article DOH: It’s time to talk about, address depression, “In the Philippines, 3.3 million Filipinos suffer from depressive disorders, with suicide rates in 2.5 males and 1.7 females per 100,000.”

That’s why Beyond Small Talk is eager to raise mental health awareness.  There is hope for you if you are struggling with it.

We want to pray for you! Let’s lift up to God your worries and fears. You may call now CBN Asia Prayer Center at 8-737-0-700.

Kristoffer Martin Plays Abused Son in Suklob

Kristoffer Martin is back in another heart-tugging, true-to-life story of an abused son in Suklob, this Good Friday, April 10, 5:30 p.m. on GMA.

Kristoffer, as Nett Gochuico, grew up doubting the existence of a loving God. Seen as bringing bad luck, he was physically abused by his father and was often blamed for the unfortunate events that happened in their family.

The award-winning actor admits that he is always thrilled about taking on Tanikala roles. To Kristoffer, his widely acclaimed character in Buyonero and now in Suklob are some of the most challenging to portray because they have such a huge impact on its viewers.

“When we made Buyonero, I’ve read a lot of tweets from people saying that their faith in God was strengthened after watching it. It really had an impact on their lives. It’s my second time working with CBN Asia for Suklob, and it just hits differently when you make a project with a purpose – a project that inspires people to change,” the actor expressed in vernacular.

Kristoffer could relate to Nett’s struggles with buried grief, forgiveness, and healing.

“When we were young, I also longed for a father’s affection because he was afraid to show his love for us. We lost a sister before, so our father avoided getting too attached to anyone. When I learned about it, I understood where he was coming from and I learned to forgive. My relationship with my dad changed and we are okay now. I learned the importance of acknowledging pain, recognizing fault, and extending forgiveness,” Kristoffer shared in Filipino.

Witness a story of love, forgiveness, and healing in Tanikala presents Suklob on Good Friday, April 10, 5:30 p.m. on GMA, directed by Derek Adapon, written by Mika Dizon, and produced by CBN Asia.

Coney Reyes is Wanda Woman in Wanda’s Wonderful World

Co-starring with top-caliber actors Tirso Cruz III and Ricky Davao, Coney breathes life to the character of Wanda, the CEO of a well-renowned events company, Wanda’s Wonderful World.

Despite her successful career, Wanda still searches for love while trying to fill the void in her heart left by a traumatic experience she had when she was young.

“Actually, Wanda is sort of a complicated character. But if you dig deep down in her heart, it’s actually simple why she is the way she is. She was a neglected child, because of that, there were certain things she was yearning for in her life,” Coney explained.

One of the things that Coney could relate to was Wanda’s conversations with God and the decisions she made in life.

“Not that I questioned God, but I would often talk to God.” She added, “I made a lot of ‘not-so-healthy’ and ‘not-so-godly decisions’ and because of that I ended up with a lot of mess in my personal life. But when I met the Lord Jesus and I really just surrendered my life to Him, everything turned around because God works things out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”

Following its run last Lent, the faith-based feature film earned the respect of international movie critics and enthusiasts, winning numerous awards and nominations at the Great Lakes Christian Film Festival 2019 in Buffalo, New York.

It was hailed as the Winner of Best Special Effects in a Narrative Feature, Best Experimental/Most Creative in a Narrative Feature, and Best Lighting in a Narrative Feature, and received 4 nominations – Best Producer in a Narrative Feature, Best Director in a Narrative Feature, Best Comedy in a Narrative Feature, and Best Cinematography in a Narrative Feature.

4 Tips to Grow in Your Career Amid COVID-19

Many employees were forced to work from home when the entire Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the COVID-19 threat.

If you are one of those who feel stuck in your work-from-home setup, Beyond Small Talk can help you.

You can still make the most out of this time to level up your productivity at work by following these GROW tips – Give, Relate, Opportunities, and Word hard.

Scroll down to see more.

Give

“Give beyond whatever you’re paid for,” says Beyond Small Talk host Ardy Roberto.

Whether it’s a small task or a big one, give all that you have because God assigned you to do it.  Acquire Joseph the Dreamer’s exceptional attitude toward work found in the book of Genesis, whether he was thrown at the prison or promoted by Pharaoh, he gave above and beyond what is expected of him.

Joseph succeeded in everything that he did because God was with him.

Relate

Do not just excel at your work assignments but be someone who is easy to get along with. Wherever you are, learn to be that person who is cooperative, dependable, and understanding.

Walk-in fruits of the Holy Spirit are found in Galatians 5:22-23 NIV, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Opportunities

Look for opportunities to serve your company and take the initiative.

Your leaders are looking for people who are always willing to learn and grow just like Ardy did.

“I was starting out as a junior manager of a company, but I talked to my boss and I saw that there was an opening for another position. I told him that I can do that job and my job at the same time. You don’t even have to pay me extra,” he narrated.

Do you know what the outcome was?

Although the main reason why he took the job is to learn more, His boss promoted him within 6 months and raised his salary double.

Work hard

Work hard as if you are working for God and joy will come from the fulfillment that you did your utmost.

“As a result, you will grow in your career, grow in your mind, grow in your capabilities and skills,” says Beyond Small Talk host Miriam Quiambao-Roberto.

Do you have any prayer requests? Send them to CBN Asia Prayer Center or call 8-737-0-700 so we can pray in agreement with you.

Stay tuned for more Beyond Small Talk webisodes every Saturday, 7 pm on The 700 Club Asia Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

In this time of COVID-19 crisis, you are safe and secure in God’s promise.

Take heart in His Word in Psalm 91:9-11 TPT that declares, “When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail against us or disease infect us? God sends angels with special orders to protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm.”

Stressed from Work? Here are Tips to Overcome | Beyond Small Talk

Do you feel unhappy with your job?

Struggling to cope with your difficult work environment?

Drained with tasks at work?

Watch out! Do not leave it unaddressed because it can result in burnout.

“Burnout is a reaction to prolonged or chronic job stress and is characterized by three main dimensions: exhaustion, cynicism (less identification with the job), and feelings of reduced professional ability,” Elizabeth Scott, MS explained in her article Burnout Symptoms and Treatment in Verywell Mind.

To help with that, here are tips from our Beyond Small Talk hosts on how to overcome your challenges at work and become productive again:

1. Remember that Jesus is your boss

There is a greater purpose why you are working and that is found in Colossians 3:23 NIV, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human master.”

Give your best at work not because you want to please men, but because you want to please God above all. Whatever good that you do, God Himself will surely reward you.

2. Check your heart

If you are at a point where you just drag yourself to work and you feel unmotivated, Beyond Small Talk host, Ardy Roberto, advises that you have to do some soul searching.

Ask God, “What is it that You want me to do? What is it that You have called me to do?”

As you wait for God’s answer, remember that it’s also not too late to learn to love what you are doing. God surely led you to that job not by accident but for a purpose.

3. Improve your work-life balance

You can be in love with your job but still get burned out if you don’t practice a healthy work-life balance.

It happened with Beyond Small Talk host Miriam Quiambao-Roberto.

Her advice? Do not let work steal your time with God.

“We need that moment where we have to connect with our Creator so that we can create more in our work,” she said.

Moreover, carve out special time with your loved ones and you will see how it can bring refreshment to your soul and strength as you face tomorrow.

Find comfort in God’s Word in Philippians 4:6 NIV, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Do you need prayers for your work? Perhaps, you are at the point of burnout.

Call CBN Asia Prayer Center now at 8-737-0-700 and we would love to pray for you.

Watch out for the next webisode of Beyond Small Talk every Saturday, 7 pm on The 700 Club Asia Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
