How Do You Respond When Unexpected Blessings Come?

A wedding is like a magical story where two people who love each other get together. However, after all the happiness of the wedding, comes the reality that every couple must face—living together.

For many couples, this is something they’re excited about. Just like Edna and Noel Gonzales.

“It is an advantage to have a partner who serves with you in the ministry,” Noel said.

After getting married, they encountered financial issues. Noel, a Pastor, and Edna, now serving in church, moved to Sta. Rosa, Laguna. With no familiar faces or family around, they used their wedding funds to find a home, embracing a leap of faith.

As time passed by, the money ran out. Left with no other options, they made a home within the very walls of the church they served.

“We were in a little room in the church. It was crowded and really hot, but my husband and I didn’t complain. We understood that this is part of the sacrifice we had to make,” Edna recalled.

Are you also experiencing this? Hold on because God is at work!

Edna and Noel’s dedication to their congregation never wavered. Despite their own limitations, they hosted Bible studies and cared for their fellow church members. They shared the importance of tithing and giving to the Lord, leading by example.

Specifically, Edna’s giving heart reached beyond their local community, supporting organizations like CBN Asia, particularly its humanitarian ministry, Operation Blessing.

“I view CBN Asia as fertile ground. By contributing, I believe I’m making a difference for those in need,” she explained.

Edna’s giving bore abundant fruits!

An unexpected blessing emerged in the form of a generous church member who gifted them with a television, which they were praying for months. And in her 50th, she received a house and a car, which they used for their ministry! The couple’s steadfast dedication to serving the Lord did not go unnoticed.

“My husband doesn’t have to rush home from his appointments because we have a car to use,” she shared.

Edna’s journey shows us that giving isn’t limited by circumstances. Despite financial struggles, her heart stayed open, sowing kindness and generosity.

Her story is a reminder that God’s blessings flow abundantly when we faithfully manage what we’ve been given. When we prove ourselves to be good stewards, more blessings are entrusted to us.

As God said in His Word in 2 Corinthians 9:6, “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”

Edna and Noel inspire us to stay firm in faith and bless others even in lack.
