Finding God’s Hope in the Storm

When the storms of life hit and everything falls apart, how do you find hope? How do you begin again?

In life, we sometimes experience different kinds of storms, and we find ourselves asking if there is still hope.

Shirly’s story is proof that God can restore what was lost, rebuild what was broken, and give hope to start again.

Shirly Nalla, a mother of six children, lost her entire home and eatery business due to Typhoon Tino that hit Cebu. She felt so devastated because she lost their family’s source of income. In the blink of an eye, she was left with nothing.

After seeing the aftermath of the storm, she was overwhelmed by despair after realizing she had to start all over again.

She felt hopeless and helpless because they had nowhere to turn to and don’t have enough resources to rebuild their livelihood.

In the middle of a difficult challenge, it can be hard to have a grateful heart. But despite what Shirly went through, she was able to remain thankful and look at the brighter side of life.

“I almost lost hope. But then I realized, ‘Thank You, Lord, because my family is safe,’” Shirly expressed.

God’s answer to her situation came right on time. After the storm, a lifesaving moment came for Shirly when she was chosen as a beneficiary of Operation Blessing’s Livelihood Rehabilitation Project, which included Financial Management Training to help families rebuild their future.

Through the program and her community’s support, Shirly was able to rebuild her livelihood.

Truly, all hope isn’t lost for those who have faith in God. For Shirly, Operation Blessing was heaven-sent. True enough, there is always a rainbow after every storm. And in the storm, she experienced God’s love in action.

“I am so happy! I am deeply grateful to God. Thank you so much for your livelihood program, Operation Blessing. Thank you to everyone who helped us,” Shirly expressed with heartfelt gratitude.

She might have gone through a challenging time, but God did not leave Shirly. He used people to bless her so she could start again. From feeling of hopelessness and discouragement, Shirly was filled with joy and renewed hope because of God’s blessings and goodness.

Are you going through life’s storms?

Shirly’s story is a comforting reminder that God is always with us and that His love never stops moving. Her life is a testimony that restoration and new beginnings are possible because we serve a God who turns situations around.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, NIV)
