What’s the Secret to a Lasting Marriage?

That’s what Primo and Zosima Buce discovered when what started as an exchange of vows became a promise they faithfully lived out for more than 40 years.

It hasn’t always been easy, especially when Zosima had a stroke and lost her ability to do many of the things she used to.

Once a home-cooked meal and sari-sari store vendor, now became a stay-at-home housewife that needs extra care.

“I can’t do the things I want to do anymore,” Zosima lamented.

Are you also experiencing challenges in your marriage? Where do you turn to for hope?

Trials may sometimes create a crack in marriage, but for Primo and Zosima, the hurdles strengthen their bond. Their love reflects God’s love—selfless and unconditional.

“To be loving and generous, that is the secret of our marriage,” they said in unison.

Primo’s love in action is displayed daily by taking care of his wife. He prepares meals and bathes her in the early hours of the morning before heading to work at a steel fabrication shop.

With his income of 500 pesos per day, they couldn’t afford to get the medical attention that Zosima needs.

“For as long as we live, we will never give up. I only trust in the Lord. I know that He will help me,” Primo declared. He and Zosima held on to faith that God will be their provider.

And God did, in the form of Operation Blessing’s Mobile Medical Clinic.

The mobile clinic visited their community in Barangay San Francisco, Cavite, where they offered free medical checkup, reading glasses, dental services, ECG, other medical tests and medications.

Zosima’s confidence in God’s help led her to receiving the medical assistance that she needs – laboratory tests and medications. Operation Blessing also generously gifted the couple with food and other essential items.

Putting God at the center, reflecting His unconditional love, and being generous and loving—for Primo and Zosima, these are the secrets to a lasting marriage, and also ways of showing love in action to our kababayans in need.
