It’s easy to trust God when things are going well. But what do you do when you’re financially broke?
Breadwinner Mary Jane Estiller learned what it means to trust God when she struggled with her finances.
Like you, Mary Jane wondered how she can support her family with her meager income. No matter how hard she worked in the salon, the pay was never enough to cover for their family’s expenses. She worried even more when her father got sick.
“It was a very difficult time. I only had a small income, but my responsibility was huge,” Mary Jane recalled.
There were several times when she was left with no more money in her pockets and the only thing that she had was her faith in God.
Can you relate to Mary Jane’s situation?
Have you also experienced running out of cash, yet you still hope in God?
Like Mary Jane, your season of lack is a time where God’s provision is magnified. As she put her trust in God, resources began to pour in.
“I received financial support from my sister and brother-in-law from abroad. I also received tips from my clients at work,” she shared.
Her faith strengthened even more when one of her family members—who is a beneficiary of Operation Blessing—encouraged her to give to CBN Asia.
Apart from this motivation, God’s Word also inspired Mary Jane to support the ministry, “The Bible verse that spoke to my heart was Luke 6:38: ‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.’”
It comforted her weary heart that she can always put her trust in God who has the power to supply everything that is lacking in her life.
Mary Jane trusted God with her finances, and true enough, He answered her prayers.
Her father came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior and got healed from his sickness. Even though her father passed away after some time, Mary Jane was thankful that he had a personal relationship with God.
God’s provision did not stop there. Mary Jane got a new work assignment and would always receive additional incentives after reaching their monthly quota. She was also offered a higher pay which helped her get back on her feet!
Moreover, she received another provision; her sister supported her financially when she opened a small eatery—a blessing she never dreamed of, but she received because of God’s faithfulness.
“God fulfilled his promise that He will bless us,” Mary Jane said, who now juggles managing their Tapsilogan business and working as a freelance financial advisor.
Life is full of ups and downs but as Mary Jane continues to put her trust in God, God continues to take care of her and her household.
Do you still have a hard time trusting God with your finances?
Take heart and allow God to provide in ways you never even dreamed of. If you are ready to surrender to God, Mary Jane has an encouragement for you.
“If you don’t trust God in handling your finances, you tend to find a solution on your own like getting a loan without thinking it over. But when you fully trust God with your financial problems, you will kneel before Him in prayer and ask Him to provide for your needs,” Mary Jane ended.
