When you were a child, like many of us, you probably looked up to heroes like those with supernatural powers in movies and television shows.
Or perhaps, celebrating National Heroes Day today makes you remember the brave patriots who fought for our country’s freedom.
Apart from these heroes whom you know by name, would you believe that there are still heroes today?
These modern-day heroes do not wear capes or written about in history books.
They work on the frontline, outside of their homes, to serve everyone even while the world is under the threat of COVID-19.
So today, take this time to honor and thank them through prayer. Here’s how you can pray for our COVID-19 heroes:
1. Pray for their Protection
With the new variants of the virus, the risk of contracting COVID-19 is even greater today, especially for those working outside their homes.
But amid these threats, God is sovereign. Through prayer, you can help these modern-day heroes to seek God’s protection against COVID-19 or any sickness.
As you pray, declare, and believe that God’s help is always available, and He is present during trying times.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NIV)
2. Pray for Strength
Even heroes get tired too.
In your prayer time, remember to claim the promise of God’s ability to renew the strength of all the essential workers who are sacrificially working every day.
As it says on Isaiah 40:29, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
Pray that they will find a renewed strength in the presence of God.
3. Pray for Faith
More than anything else, COVID-19 heroes need faith to continue believing that there is still hope amid the situation.
As you pray for all the frontline service heroes tirelessly working even now, declare this Word from the Bible for them in Psalm 27:13, “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
Do you know someone who is a modern-day COVID-19 hero?
Take a moment of prayer for their life and speak blessings of protection, strength, and faith for them this National Heroes Day.
