No one would ever want to see their family experience hunger. However, the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing hundreds of thousands of Filipinos to stay in their homes and endure it every day.
Such is the case for Remedios Dela Cruz of Malabon City.
Even before the pandemic, her family was already struggling to make ends meet. They rely on her daily wage as a house helper. When there is no work for their Nanay Remedios, there is no food for the day for the whole family.
“I am struggling so much because of this pandemic. It’s very hard for someone like me who has a medical condition. As much as I want to rest, I cannot do that. I have to earn money to support my medication and buy food for my family,” Remedios shared.
Remedios is just one of our many kababayans who are struggling to have enough food during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) implementation in Metro Manila this month.

“Thank you, Operation Blessing, for giving us food to eat. It’s a critical help we need to survive this day,” said Remedios.
