Is it still possible to see glimmers of hope amid a global pandemic?
Yes, says Asia’s songbird, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid who shared how she prays to keep herself focused on God during these trying times, during the CBN Asia’s online concert, “One Music. One Hope.” last April 28.
Regine and her husband, ultimate singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, brought the message of God’s love, hope, and healing to kababayans as they rendered powerful performances and shared personal stories during the concert.
“If I focus so much on these things that we’re all going through, it’s like I’m giving COVID-19 so much weight than it already has. There’s someone more powerful than that – it’s God, so I want to focus on Him more,” Regine continued. She shared that praying gives her hope and peace.
Ogie and Regine sang “Pangako,” to remind everyone of God’s beautiful promises, and also shared how they cope with the “new normal” while encouraging the viewers to have childlike faith.
Like Regine, Ogie chooses to glorify God and uplift people through music amid the crisis. He sang his new composition “Beautiful,” to praise God for the beautiful things He has done.
“I don’t mean to offend anyone, but I believe something beautiful can come out of this crisis. In our family, we have so much time together. More importantly, we now have more time to spend with God, and check on our lives to see what really matters,” Ogie expressed.
The power duo concluded the online concert with a duet of “The Lord is Our Savior,” which evoked a lot of positive comments from inspired viewers.
“Ogie and Regine, thank you very much for the wonderful music that you shared with us. We love you! Also thank you very much to CBN Asia for this wonderful concert. God bless you all!” DA commented.
“Thank you Alcasid family for all your wonderful and beautiful music. It made us feel relieved amid this crisis. God bless you!” said Sy Nax.
“Praise the Lord for this! It’s so awesome to see Filipino artists praising Him!” viewer Karen expressed.
Ogie and Regine were joined by other top-performing artists Janina Vela, Tim Pavino, and Lara Maigue, who all shared inspiring music and stories of hope.
The online concert was able to raise funds for frontliners and most vulnerable Filipinos who lost their livelihoods due to the enhanced community quarantine. It was streamed live on the CBN Asia, 700 Club Asia, Batang Superbook , and Operation Blessing Facebook pages.
