Turning away from a life of sin is easier said than done. Sometimes, we take several steps forward only to find ourselves stumbling backward and ending up right where we started.
That’s exactly what happened to Andrea Badinas, whose story is featured in CBN Asia’s Holy Week special, Tanikala presents “Ako’y Sa ’Yo.”
Her constant struggle with her identity and past hurts is something many people can relate to. It was not an easy journey, but her life serves as a powerful reminder of how God transforms lives.

1. No sin is greater than God’s mercy.
Andrea was only a child when she was exposed to a video scandal, which opened her eyes to sexuality. Watching such videos has since become normal for her.
In high school, she joined a girls’ soccer team where she met Max, who became her first girlfriend. Andrea also discovered partying and smoking weed.
But things changed when her mother met a pastor who taught them the truth about God’s Word. From that point on, Andrea began turning away from her past and eventually ended her relationship with Max. She became eager to share the gospel and served God through her ministry at church.
Truly, God’s mercy is greater than any mistake we have made in the past. When we humbly come to Him and receive Him into our hearts, He embraces us with His love and forgives our sins.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, NIV)
2. It’s important to have godly people around you.
But just as Andrea thought her life was finally turning around, she met Alex and entered into a relationship with her—even while both of them were serving in the church.
They struggled with their faith and their feelings—knowing what was right in the eyes of God, yet still choosing to live in sin.
Thankfully, Andrea had people who guided her, such as her family and pastors. They walked with her and prayed for her until she was finally set completely free from the bondage of her recurring sins.

3. True repentance leads to a transformed life.
The moment Andrea fully let go of herself and surrendered everything to God, everything changed. She no longer falls into the same mistakes she once made. Glorifying God through her life has become her top priority.
Today, Andrea serves as a pastor, sharing how God’s love and mercy transformed her life and inspiring others with her testimony.
“God never stopped choosing me. He met in my shame. He whispered love when I only expected silence. And now, I try to love like God does,” she said.
Her story is a living proof of what is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV): “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
