New Jesus Film “Light of the World” to Premiere in Philippine Cinemas This December

Light of the World, a new animated film about the life of Jesus, is set to light up Philippine cinemas this December 10. Produced by The Salvation Poem Project and brought to local theatres by CBN Asia, the 2D feature takes the viewers back to 30 AD and retells Christ’s story through the eyes of His youngest apostle, John.

Following its international releases, Light of the World now reaches Filipino audiences—bringing to life the miracles of Jesus and His journey through crucifixion and resurrection. With stunning animation and heartfelt storytelling, the movie offers a fresh and deeply personal perspective on the gospel narrative.

“This film’s story is intensely personal to us because it shows how Jesus can change the lives of broken people like you and me,” says Producer and The Salvation Poem Project President Brennan McPherson. “We see this as more than entertainment—it’s a worldwide mission delivered through the medium of classic animation.”

This groundbreaking film is directed by John J. Schafer, known for his work on the beloved children’s Bible animation Superbook. Schafer is joined by Tom Bancroft, celebrated for his animation work on Disney classics such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Mulan, as well as by Tony Bancroft, the animation director who has worked on Mulan, Mary Poppins Returns, and Space Jam: A New Legacy.

“We are bringing a modern 2D animation approach to the timeless story of Jesus from a perspective that will resonate with the whole family,” says Director John J. Schafer. “I am so excited for audiences to experience this story on the big screen.”

For CBN Asia EVP-COO John Tan, the movie offers children an entertaining way to learn about Jesus—an experience that can deeply influence their lives, “Studies show that kids ages 4 to 14 are in a critical period for spiritual development and openness to the gospel. I hope parents won’t miss the chance to bring the whole family to see a film of such quality and significance.”

Light of the World is also open for block screenings, offering families, churches, schools, and organizations an opportunity to experience the story of Jesus together. Whether as a private event or a large gathering, the film promises to be a meaningful experience for viewers of all ages. To learn more and schedule a screening, visit cbnasia.me/LOTW.
