5 Tips to Cultivate Forgiveness in Your Marriage

Agree or disagree: Forgiveness is one of, if not the most important aspect of marriage.

You might say it is love, but come to think of it—isn’t forgiveness a huge part of it? There is no love without forgiveness, and you can only sustain a marriage if you know how to truly forgive.

Here’s the good thing about forgiveness: It is possible! You can always choose to cultivate forgiveness in your marriage and your home.

Let forgiveness reign within your marriage with these 5 helpful tips:

1. Be quick to forgive

One of the most common misconceptions about forgiveness is that it is a “one-time, bigtime” thing. Truth is, forgiveness is a day-by-day process of extending grace into your marriage.

Colossians 3 holds the same message: forgive quickly and completely. Be honest about how the hurt has affected you, but don’t stay in that pit for too long lest it breed anger and bitterness. Choose not to linger on the offense. Forgive quickly. Forgive frequently.

“Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.” Colossians 3:12-14 MSG)

2. Keep no record of wrongs

When your spouse wronged you, it’s so easy to fall into the habit of finding faults in everything that they do. Knowing this reality, the Bible has a gentle reminder: Love keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5).

Do you want to cultivate forgiveness in your marriage?

Avoid keeping mental notes of what’s been done to you. Stop looking for occasions to be offended and avoid continuously punishing your spouse for the offenses they have made in the past. Let go and let God do the work in their hearts.

3. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth

Things might not have worked out the way you wanted; you’ve been hurt the way you hadn’t expected. All that pain, disappointment, and anger could easily contaminate your communication with your spouse.

Allowing hateful talk with your spouse is like rubbing salt into an open wound. It aggravates the situation, yet it brings no good. Instead of reminding your spouse of their failures and frailties, sow gentle words of love and encouragement to build them up. Choose your words wisely.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” (Ephesians 4:29 ESV)

4. Confess, apologize, and pray

You and your spouse will both make mistakes, that’s a given. But if you look at successful marriages, you will see a common denominator: they are good forgivers.

Therefore, a lasting marriage is a union of two very forgiving people—a husband and wife who both have this habit of confessing their wrongs, apologizing, and asking for forgiveness.

Why not start with yourself? Show your spouse that you forgive them, then pray for them. Show how much you value forgiveness, so you can encourage them to make room for forgiveness as well. It might be hard at first especially when the offense is too deep, so it’s good to remember that you can always ask God to help you forgive.

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16 ESV)

5. Realize that you needed forgiveness too

Before you can extend forgiveness to others, it’s important to realize that you needed forgiveness, too—and it was freely given to you.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). This means that you, too, make mistakes. Thankfully, God isn’t only just—He is continuously forgiving! He showed His forgiveness, mercy, and love for you by dying on the cross and giving you an eternal life.

So whenever you’re torn between exercising justice and forgiving your spouse, choose forgiveness. Forgiveness is powerful and healing, so give it to your spouse in the same way you have received it from God.

Brokenhearted? Here are Some Tips on How to Move On

You may just be seeking a life that is simple, peaceful, and happy, but you find yourself trapped in a maze of anger and unforgiveness. You struggle to let go but it seems like your past has a way of grappling you.

Worry not, Beyond Small Talk hosts Christine Kairuz, Bettinna Carlos, and Trish Chu share thoughts on how you can deal with these emotions and enter God’s promised rest.

Tip #1: Admit that you got hurt

Covering your wound hinders it from healing, while acknowledging that you’re hurt is a step closer to recovery. Allowing yourself to mourn helps you process what happened to you and the gravity of pain the person or situation caused you.

As Bettinna Carlos says, women, though viewed as strong, are also capable of being hurt.

It doesn’t make you less of a person to accept that you’re in pain because when you get to embrace the things that you cannot change, you start to heal. It’s like applying a first-aid, a soothing balm to your wounded heart.

After acknowledging that you cannot alter the things that hurt you, know that there are some things you can change like your perspective in life.

Do you allow trials to bring you down, or do you use it as stepping stones to better yourself?

Tip #2: Pray and ask God for the grace to forgive

How do you respond when you experience betrayal or heartbreaks?

Colossians 3:13 says, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

When you respond in prayer and “decide” to forgive, you let God comfort your tired heart. As Christine Kairuz puts it, “Bring all your pain to the cross, you will experience rest.”

Unforgiveness robs you of experiencing blessings and peace. So let God help you!

Let Him hold all your broken pieces and Have faith that He is working in your life to make you whole again. After all, your sufferings are temporary and His promises are forever.

You may not understand all the trials you’re facing right now, but believe in God’s goodness and supernatural healing. Ask Jesus to reveal His power during your trial. Your total recovery is in His hands.

Ready to Vote? Here are 3 Leadership Qualities to Look for in a Candidate

There are many great leaders throughout history, but there’s only one person who has set the standards and embodied the true meaning of leadership—Jesus Christ.

Jesus made Himself of no reputation and took upon Him the form of a servant (Philippians 2:7). He came to earth not to be served but to serve mankind. He gave His life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).

This 2022 elections, it’s important to choose a leader who embodies Jesus’ example of leadership.

Ready to vote?

Beyond Small Talk hosts Peter Kairuz, Jericho Arceo, and Paul Herrera discussed the life of Jesus as a servant leader to help you decide the right qualities to look for in a candidate:

1. A true leader knows how to sacrifice

Even if Jesus knew He was God (Philippians 2:6-7), He chose to humble Himself so He could connect with His people and serve them.

A leader should be someone who will sacrifice, serve, and go the extra mile for his or her constituents.

2. A true leader teaches and models how to lead

He or she does not only instruct nor dictate what they should do but models it.

“Jesus modeled servant leadership by serving others through the washing of His disciples’ feet and dying on the cross,” Paul Herrera explained.

3. A true leader allows his or her followers to do things on their own

Jesus allowed His disciples to minister on their own and be able to apply what they have learned from Him.

How Can I Break Free from the Cycle of Pain?

Emotionally damaged people tend to inflict pain on the people around them.

Sometimes, it is inevitable to experience pain, sorrow, sufferings, and conflicts.

Since we are living in a broken world, everyone’s vulnerable from all kinds of hurt, unhealthy patterns, and toxic relationships.

And that reality hit Sathy Arancis when she chose to work as a domestic helper in Hong Kong despite finishing a bachelor’s degree in nursing in the Philippines.

“As a domestic helper, I was treated like a slave,” Sathy painfully recalled her bitter experience with her employer.

“Though there’s no physical abuse, there’s emotional abuse. My employer always belittles me, insults me, and tells me, ‘You told me you finished college, but you know nothing,’” she shared.

Can you relate to Sathy’s pain?

You have not experienced being beaten, kicked, punched, or hit, yet you felt so hurt and harmed?

There was no physical force, but you still felt so abused and deeply injured?

If yes, know that your pain is valid. Acknowledge how you feel and the way you respond to that hurtful situation. Remember, pain is more than just a physical sensation.

In Proverbs 18:21, God’s Word reminds us that our tongue, not our hands nor feet, can bring death or life. It means our words have power to either heal or kill.

Whenever we choose hurtful and harsh words, we are like shooting arrows with poison to the people we are talking to and dealing with.

As the adage says, “Hurt people hurt people,” the cycle of pain continues when we operate on our own will and emotions.

This is what happened when Sathy tried to endure and hide her pain.

She looked for people and activities that would help her forget her agony.

But her effort to escape her pain only led her to do things that would harm herself.

She learned to go to the club and do vices, gave in to impulsive shopping, disregarded her curfew, and even disrespected her employer.

Like Sathy, was your effort to escape your distress only led you to the wrong path? You thought you would be able to heal, forget, and be fine. But it only made you feel worse and devastated?

Take heart! Your situation is not hopeless, and so are you.

Change is coming to you, too. Just as how God encountered Sathy when she was totally drunk and ashamed of what she has become. Help is on the way for you!

That night when Sathy knew she deserved to be scolded, her employer shown great concern towards her.

Convicted by the kindness of her employer, God led her to The 700 Club Asia Facebook page.

“When I opened The 700 Club Asia’s page, I thought it was about night clubs. But then, I realized it features different testimony of people,” Sathy said. “I was delighted and touched. And I wondered if it was real,” she added.

Encouraged by the testimonies she watched, her curiosity about living a transformed life grew deeper and wider.

As she sought God’s way, the Lord started moving in her life.

Today, Sathy is happily married while serving God with her husband, and working as a nurse in Canada.

“People share who they were before and how the Lord changed them. They teach you how to pray and how to confess your sins to God. The Lord really guided me every step of the way,” Sathy gratefully shared how she started journeying with the Lord through watching The 700 Club Asia.

Are you also longing for a change in your life?

Do want to be set free from the cycle of pain, toxic patterns, and unhealthy lifestyle?

By the grace and mercy of God, you will experience hope, healing, and restoration, and transformation.

God is faithful and will grant the desires of your heart as you delight yourself in Him.

Jesus has carried all your sins in His body when He died on the cross. He died that you might die to sin and live a life that is pleasing to your heavenly Father. Because of Jesus’ wounds, healing is available for you (1 Peter 2:24).

He is your Wounded Healer. He knows, understands, and feels your pain. And He is there to heal, restore, and renew.

Would you like to experience a new life that is free from the hurt, guilt and shame caused by sin?

Come to Jesus! He is there waiting for you. He longs for you to give you a life that is abundant, victorious, and full of joy.

Is God prompting you to support us in inspiring people to live a transformed life? It’s our joy to welcome you as our partner in the ministry.

May the Lord comfort you, heal you, and save you.

God bless you!

Are You a Breadwinner in Your Family?

Are you often worried about your family’s finances?

If so, then perhaps you would relate to Jho Valera.

Like you, Jho felt all the worries when she lost her job for 4 years because of bankruptcy. She was her family’s breadwinner. Losing her job meant she could not provide for her loved ones anymore. Because of this, she became depressed and started having anxiety attacks.

“I couldn’t sleep. I had no peace of mind. I was wondering where I could borrow some money,” she shared.

She tried selling barbeque but it wasn’t enough to feed her family. She even had to pawn her cellphone so she could have money.

Can you relate to Jho’s struggle?

Do you also feel emotionally and financially drained?

One night, after selling barbecue, Jho chanced upon The 700 Club Asia on television. Through the show, she gained the courage to face her problems. She remembered that God is with her no matter her situation.

“The host shared that ‘God can carry you. God can help you. Trust in God,’” Jho recalled.

She also saw how Operation Blessing helps our needy kababayans. This inspired her to give. With just Php 500 left in her wallet, she gave half to the ministry.

“They show where the donations go and how it helps other people,” she shared

Little did she know that her act of faith would open the door of blessings in her life.

Soon after, she received Php 500 from a friend who owed her. She also received a face painting gig which paved the way for her to own an event design business.

Now, she’s managing a physical therapy clinic which allows her to travel abroad and be a blessing to her family.

May Jho’s story remind you that we can never outgive God. In His Word it says,

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38 NLT)

Maybe today you are like Jho and you’re also worried about your finances. May you remember that you have a living Hope and that is Jesus. He is your Provider, Comforter, and ever-present help in times of need.

Do you feel hopeless, scared, and worried about tomorrow? The CBN Asia Prayer Center is here 24/7 to pray for you.

Are You Praying for Healing?

Have you ever been in a situation where someone you love desperately needs healing? You don’t have money, there is no present help, and you’re hurt to see your loved one suffering.

If you are experiencing this, you should hear the story of Nestor Quilat, who had both his kids rushed to the hospital.

No doubt that a parent’s love for their children is beyond measure. Many parents say that they would do anything to give their kids a good and healthy life. So, you could imagine how hard it was for Nestor to see his children suffering.

When both of his kids’ temperature spiked up, Nestor hurriedly brought them to the hospital, and found out that Deborah has a blood clot that needs to be removed. Meanwhile, Job’s fever reached 43 degrees hot. They both have dengue.

This could have been easier if they only had the money to buy all the medications needed, but at that time, they only had Php 1,000 to spend. Nestor was helpless, but his faith was strong.

As the hospital bills increased and the cost of medicine became almost unreachable, Nestor held on to God more than ever before. Even in a comfort room, he kneeled and prayed to God even harder.

“Lord, You are the one who gave me my children. I will serve you, I will bring my family to serve you if you let my children live,” he said in his prayers.

Whether in the hospital or at home, Nestor prayed unceasingly. He remembered watching The 700 Club Asia even before his kids got sick. He would often join the hosts in their prayers for healing.

Strongly believing in the power of prayers, Nestor did not hesitate to ask his pastor to pray for Deborah and Job. After that, he had a hope that God would hear his cries.

He was not wrong.

A few days passed and the prayers for his kids were heard. When he got to the hospital, the doctor confirmed that Deborah’s blood clot was gone, and Job is now doing better.

The blessings did not end there. A close friend of Nestor came and asked about what happened to his children. Just as Nestor was settling the money concerns before leaving the hospital, he found out that the bills had already been paid.

After this miracle, just as promised, Nestor taught his kids how to read the Bible and pray. At this moment, his family is serving God by ministering to the street children.

“The Word of God changed our lives and gave us direction,” he said.

Are you praying for healing right now?

The Lord is your great doctor. There is nothing more powerful than His healing hands.

In desperate times, cling to Him more and pray. Ask Him for help.

Ask for His intervention so He can show you His healing power.

“And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” (James 5:15 ESV)

What Do You Do When You Don’t Know What to Do?

Maybe you are faced with a major problem. Maybe you have a big decision to make. Maybe you are questioning God why you have to suffer this way.

Not only do you not know how you got into this situation, but you don’t know how to get out of it either.

Now you’re asking yourself, what do you do when you don’t know what to do?

Rebecca Solis could relate to that helpless feeling.

Rebecca’s life turned upside down when her husband died in 2016. As a widow who had zero experience in managing a direct selling business, she did not know what to do.

Although it pained her to see how the fruits of her husband’s labor started to crumble, she had to let go of it. She had to close down the business.

Just when she thought it’s their lowest point, life delivered another blow.

One month after her husband died, her son got involved in a car accident.

Grief. Financial lack. Growing bank debts. The widow tried to stay strong amid all the grief and troubles. She tried to sell their house so their family can survive. But when she did not see any hope, she eventually reached breaking point.

She desperately cried to God.

“I was so desperate. Many people inquired, but no one bought our property. So I prayed, ‘Lord, I need to sell this house. Please reach out to people who will prosper me with this property. I surrender. You are in control,” Rebecca recalled.

What about you, what do you do when you don’t know what to do?

Where do you find comfort?

Little did Rebecca know, God will comfort her weary heart through a show.

“I watched The 700 Club Asia and saw the hosts praying, ‘God is opening doors that have been closed for your life for so long. I am commanding the blessing to come to you! Receive it now.’

Startled yet amazed by what she heard, Rebecca exclaimed, “That’s me! God was talking to me. I claimed that prayer because I knew it was for me!”

From being clueless and helpless about not knowing what to do, Rebecca now knows which path to take. That is to surrender everything to Jesus Christ and have faith that He will make a way.

God surprised Rebecca. Just two months after that prayer, their property was sold—allowing them to settle all their debts and start anew. Until now, Rebecca is in awe of how God opened doors of opportunities for their family.

“All our debts were settled because of my faith in God. He is faithful. Nothing and no one can stop Him from giving what He wants for us. That’s how much He loves us,” Rebecca said.

After witnessing how the miraculous hand of God worked in her life, Rebecca’s faith grew stronger than ever.

She couldn’t help but praise God in all that she does. She started serving God’s ministry as a discipleship leader—passionately sharing God’s saving love to others and blessing those who are in need.

“Millions worth of money cannot buy the peace and joy that I experience now. I trust the Lord fully and I know He is with me even though my husband passed away,” she shared.

If you’re in a challenging, hopeless, or uncertain situation right now, Rebecca has a good reminder for you.

“We count our blessings every day. Also, watching The 700 Club Asia is a huge part of my spiritual journey. God introduced me to that show to comfort me. I learned that no one can help us better than Jesus,” Rebecca ended.

One thing is clear: Rebecca did not know what to do. Thankfully, she ran to God and asked for His help.

When you don’t know what to do, ask God.

Find comfort in the truth that you can always run to Jesus and ask for His help. Ask for His divine protection to rescue and cover you. Ask His miraculous hand to bless you. Ask His loving heart to comfort you.

Ask, and expect for answers. Have faith that your God is about to open doors for you. Believe that you will be comforted and that He will lead you to the right path.

Be ready to receive your blessing.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NKJV)

Do You Find It Difficult to Give?

When it seems that we don’t have enough for ourselves, we might find it challenging to give to God. But Joy’s story proves that if we remain faithful to God, He will take care of us and provide all our needs.

Joy Adler fell victim to financial fraud and learned that she owed the bank $14,000, which totaled to around 720,000 Philippine pesos. Someone had stolen her personal information and used her credit card. Unable to pay her debt, Joy and her husband, Don, decided to file for bankruptcy.

Joy had worked two jobs, but she still does not earn enough for their needs.

Are you in a similar situation right now?

Don’t lose hope. Trust in God’s plan for your life! He sees you and He will take care of you, as He did with Joy.

While staying with her in-laws, Joy had the opportunity to go to church and, eventually, accept Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She also learned about The 700 Club, which she now considers as her second church.

Joy discovered the importance of tithing as well. So despite having very limited resources and sometimes even relying on food stamps, Joy and her husband gave to God’s ministry as much as possible.

Things were getting better as her in-laws helped them move to a new apartment. However, another problem came when their car broke down.

Joy admitted that she was not regularly giving to God at that time. But God spoke to her, saying that she had to surrender everything to Him.

What is God telling you right now? Are you willing to obey and trust in Him?

As for Joy, she listened to God and decided to give faithfully. It was when they prioritized God that they began to rise above their situation.

Don, her husband, got a new job which pays a lot better than his former job, and their family got the opportunity to move to Michigan.

Despite Don’s car accident which resulted in 4 months of absence from work, they continued giving to God. “I’m still giving my tithes faithfully. That’s why I’m not worried about what’s going to happen because God’s Words are true. I hold on to His promises,” she said.

She continued watching The 700 Club and chanced upon a story of a single mother who could not provide for her two kids. It broke her heart, so she called and partnered with The 700 Club.

As they continued to give to God faithfully, God also blessed them abundantly. They were able to pay their bills, buy a new car, and move to a bigger house.

“Give and trust the Lord. He will provide. Whatever happens, He will take care of you,” she encouraged.

You can experience God’s boundless blessings too. Fully surrender your life to God and trust Him completely. He blesses those who are faithful to Him.

2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Are you waiting for a financial breakthrough from God as well? Believe that God can provide for you and your family.

Will God Hear the Cry of My Heart?

Even when she’s living in lack, Hazel Jane Tayao did not just desire to receive blessings. Her heart longs to bless others. She wants to be a channel of God’s blessings.

Ironically, generosity sparked in her heart during her greatest need—when she felt hurt and insulted.

Have you ever felt so hurt and insulted in your helplessness and lack? Maybe, it was not the intention of the giver to hurt you but the way the help was given somehow caused insult and hurt.

Hazel knew that feeling. She struggled to make ends meet as she and her husband used to depend their survival through selling peanuts on the streets.

Since they were just earning a meager income, they were also used to receiving leftover foods from other people.

As much as she wanted to be thankful, there were times that she felt so hurt as they were given foods that were on the verge of spoiling.

This led her to promise that when the time comes that she would be able to help, she would never ever make others feel disrespected through her giving.

If you, too, have a heart to give and be a blessing, believe that the Lord will use you to be His instrument of hope and favor.

Years passed, she and her husband reaped the fruits of their hard work. They were able to move to a decent home, have regular jobs, and start a small retail store.

Yet, as they started a new chapter in their lives, the pandemic happened.

Anxiety started to creep in as she was faced with a lot of financial responsibilities while their income became unstable. Their small business was not profiting.

Like Hazel, did you struggle with anxiety during this pandemic?

Allow the Lord to intervene and show you His miraculous ways. It is never easy, but it is always worth it when we let God move on our behalf and entrust Him all our cares.

That is how Hazel experienced God. In her worries, she chanced upon the live streaming of The 700 Club Asia on Facebook.

In her time of need, she was moved to donate through the Facebook Stars feature of the page.

That moment inspired her to give more to the ministry so she can help more people in need.

“Whenever you give and see where your donation goes, it’s very fulfilling, knowing that it reaches far places. Even if you donate just a small amount, it still feels overwhelming because you have participated in reaching out to our kababayans in need,” Hazel shared joyfully.

Hazel started to give to the ministry since then. And God did not disappoint Hazel. Through her generosity, she experienced God’s power to multiply.

Right after she donated Php 500 via a 7-Eleven Cliqq kiosk, she started having clients, their store started to make profits, and she was able to settle all her financial obligations.

“Thank God for He has granted my desire to donate more than the Facebook Stars!” said Hazel.

Indeed, what 1 John 5:14 (ESV) says is true: “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

The Lord hears the cry of our hearts, and He grants its desire as we seek Him.

If you desire to be blessed and be a blessing, know that it is God who planted that desire. For He is your Maker, and He has created you to enjoy His fullness and be a blessing to the people around you.

Do you want to experience God and His transforming power over your life? All you have to do is to accept Jesus into your heart.

And if you want to be a blessing and help communities in need, we welcome you to partner with us!

Do you want to witness more life-changing testimonies of miracles, breakthroughs, healing, and hope? Watch The 700 Club Asia Live TV Special, “Better Together in Truth” every midnight, February 21 to 25, 2022 on GMA Network and The 700 Club Asia Facebook page and YouTube channel.

May the Lord refresh you, bless you, and keep you united in His love!

Are You Praying for Healing and Financial Breakthrough?

If you are praying for healing and financial provision, Miraflor Mardo understands how you feel.

The pandemic has caused struggles in the lives of many Filipinos and Miraflor wasn’t exempted to that.

Before the pandemic, Miraflor has already been blessed by the ministry of The 700 Club Asia. With her heart for God and people, she committed to regularly giving Php 1,000 to CBN Asia every month.

However, a great trial began when she and her husband tested positive for COVID-19. For two days, Miraflor looked for hospitals—begging and hoping for assistance and help. Sadly, none of the hospitals were able to accommodate them.

The situation seemed so hopeless. But despite the fear and worry she was feeling in her heart, she chose to put her faith in God and started reading her Bible.

She felt her perspective changed when she read Joshua 1:9, which says, This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Are you in a hopeless situation too? Be strong and courageous!

Just like Miraflor, believe that you are not alone. God is with you. Come to Him in prayer and ask God to help you in your difficult situation. With God, nothing is impossible!

After reading the verse, Miraflor cried as she was filled with hope and encouragement from God’s Word! She went to her husband and said, “This is God’s promise to us. He will never leave us. He will be with us wherever we go!”

True enough, miracles started happening for Miraflor. Her former co-worker recommended her to a hospital where they were accommodated right away.

Thankfully, Miraflor heard the good news that her lungs were in good condition and that she doesn’t have to be admitted as a patient. It wasn’t just Miraflor who experienced a miracle, her husband started to recover, too!

God’s power and miracle didn’t end there.

The couple received God’s favor through the health card coverage of her husband and an amount of almost half a million was slashed off their bill! After 11 days in the hospital, the couple was declared COVID-free.

“If you trust in God and you are faithful to Him, giving God what is due to Him, He will not abandon you. Giving back the portion that belongs to God is very important,” Miraflor said.

Do you need health and financial breakthrough, too?

As Matthew 6:33 says, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”

Now is the time to seek God and see the wonderful things He can do in your life.

Start your journey with Jesus now by accepting Him in your heart.
