Have You Lost Hope That You Will Get Healed?

Jingie Ulgasan once had.

While working in Taiwan, Jingie faced Aplastic Anemia, a condition where the bone marrow doesn’t produce enough blood cells, leading to symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and vulnerability to infections or bleeding.

Since then, Jingie’s life revolved around frequent hospital visits, needing monthly platelet infusions. She spent a whole month confined to an isolated hospital room due to her condition, and the doctor suggested a potential need for a bone marrow transplant.

“I experienced dizziness and break out in rashes all over my body, with me ending up in the emergency room each time,” she shared.

This news made Jingie feel like there was no hope left.

Have you ever felt like this? Is there something in your life, like Jingie’s situation, that made you lose hope?

Amid this tough situation, God used a friend to spark hope within her. Her friend gave her a Bible, and as she read John 14:14, her hope was rekindled.

“John 14:14 says that God will answer our prayers. Right there and then, I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and desperately prayed for healing,” she shared.

Two days later, Jingie was miraculously discharged from the hospital! Eager to settle her medical bills, she went back to work.

Not long after, her faith was tested again. She got sick once more, her body was so weak that she couldn’t talk or walk. Jingie was inconsolable.

“I thought I was going die,” she lamented.

But once again, God stepped in. A friend of hers contacted CBN Asia’s Prayer Center so she could receive prayers.

“The prayer counselor asked me if I believe that Jesus will heal me; I said, ‘Yes.’ He also asked me to declare the name of Jesus. I tried standing up while shouting the name of Jesus, and I was able to stand up,” she shared.

After a powerful moment of prayer, Jingie was instantly healed! Not only that, when she visited her doctor, she learned that she no longer needed a transplant!

Jingie’s journey reminds us that in life’s challenges, God is there to help.

When things get tough, let’s turn to God in prayer because He listens. With God by our side, we’re never alone, and there’s always a way through even in the toughest days.

Upon returning to the Philippines, Jingie shared her story with her family, and as a result, all of them received Jesus!

Help more OFWs like Jingie by introducing them to the saving love of Jesus. By supporting CBN Asia, you help spread hope and faith to your kababayans.

Operation Blessing Responds to Earthquake in Turkey

Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, sent out a team of medical professionals to provide immediate medical assistance to the survivors of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey that left more than 4,000 buildings destroyed and killed 50,000 plus people. They also sent a team of staff and volunteers to help in the disaster response.

As the Turkish communities still experience shock and trauma due to a series of earthquakes, Operation Blessing conducted psychosocial activities for the traumatized children, helping them to process their grief and trauma through holistic mental health program.

Moreover, the team also arrived in Hatay and traveled to the city center where many survivors benefited from its medical services. The survivors in the area were given food boxes, water, and were provided emotional and psychosocial support, especially to those who had already lost their loved ones.

Currently, the Operation Blessing continues its medical assistance and relief efforts as many people remain in evacuation centers and need basic necessities and support to ease their pain and trauma caused by disaster.

‘We can start rebuilding our home’: OB helps fishermen’s families in Bohol

Families of fishermen who suffered from Typhoon Odette received construction materials like GI sheets and plywood from CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, last March 1 at Getafe, Bohol.

Ebsel Bone, a fisherman’s wife, was one of the survivors when Typhoon Odette devastated their province in 2021. The aftermath of the typhoon left them with just the clothes on their backs as they immediately evacuated to Jandayan Elementary School.

In the evacuation area, her family, together with other survivors, waited for help from the government.

“The government was quick to respond, providing us with a tarpaulin sheet to use as a roof,” Ebsel said.

The family did not have enough money to build a proper roof for their home, they used the tarpaulin sheet as their roof for months. When the tarpaulin sheet leaked, the family adjusted their sleeping positions to avoid getting wet by the pouring rain.

It was a good thing that Operation Blessing went to their community and chose Ebsel’s family as one of its beneficiaries for their disaster response project.

“Finally, we can start rebuilding our home, where we can feel safe and secure. Thank you, Operation Blessing!” said Ebsel.

In partnership with the 702nd CDC, 7RCDG, Reserve Command, 47th Katapatan Infantry Battalion, Tagbilaran City’s local government unit, and the Bohol Evangelical Pastors Association, Operation Blessing gave construction materials for the fishermen’s families and other survivors in Bohol so that they can build their homes and start anew.

Practical Tips to Manage Stress

Do you feel stressed out about the things happening around you? What has caused you stress? How has stress affected you?

Study shows that stress itself is not necessarily harmful. According to the American Psychological Association, stress is to the human condition what tension is to the violin string: too little and the music is dull and raspy; too much and the music is shrill or the string snaps.

The association added that stress can be the kiss of death or the spice of life. The issue, really, is how to manage it.

Considering your physical health, your interaction with other people, and the priorities you set in your life are important factors in effectively dealing with stress. Here are 6 practical tips that may help you deal and manage stress:

Tip #1: Know what stresses you

Identify the possible causes of your stress and note your response. This means that whenever you feel stressed, note your thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Think of ways to eliminate that makes you feel stressed. Perhaps, you may consider reducing your stress by managing your tasks or time efficiently.

One with knowledge restrains his words, and a discerning person stays calm.” – Proverbs 17:27 (TLV)

Tip #2: Try to live one day at a time

Recognize that stress is inevitable, especially when you are studying or working. Fretting over things you cannot prevent may increase your stress that can cause anxiety.

Therefore, stop worrying about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:34 (CEB)

Tip #3: Pursue work-life balance

Balanced living means considering all aspects of our life such as work, relationships, physical, emotional, and mental health. Have a realistic view of work and money. Having more money does not always mean more happiness or less stress in your life. Try to live within your means.

Limit the time you spend checking emails, text messages, or social media applications outside of working hours. Make time to relax and relieve stress by doing things you enjoy. Also avoid being a couch potato.

“But better is resting with one handful than working hard for two fistfuls and chasing after wind.” – Ecclesiastes 4:6 (CEB)

Tip #4: Try to be orderly

Make a practical schedule and stick to it. This will keep you from procrastinating on things you have to finish. Identify and correct attitudes that cause you to put off doing necessary tasks.

Let all things be done decently and in order.”- 1 Corinthians 14:40 (WEB)

Tip #5: Have a support system

Ask for help and get support from trustworthy people you are comfortable with. Talk things over with friends or loved ones. This may help you to see things from a different perspective led you to a solution you overlooked. It can also help you unburden yourself of your worries and be comforted by kind and compassionate words from people who care.

“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” – Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)

Tip #6: Care for your spiritual needs

As humans created by God, we need more than food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities in this life. We must also take care of our spiritual needs.

Reading the Bible can give you practical wisdom that you may apply in your life.

Prayer can also be a big help. Our loving God invites you to “throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Knowing that our Creator is listening to our prayers can bring us inner peace and happiness in this world.

“Those people who know they have great spiritual needs are happy. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.” – Matthew 5:3 (ICB)

Do You Feel Like Your Life is Falling Apart?

“My life is falling apart…”

These were the thoughts running through Flordeliza Lalic’s head as she endured one setback after another.

Everything of her family’s possessions was destroyed in the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption. With 2 children to support, her husband loaned money so they could start anew. However, on his way home, he was robbed and stabbed to death.

“My husband took out a Php 38,000 loan. On his way home, he was called by a group of drunk men who saw the money in his wallet. They went after him and ended his life,” she recalled.

Desperate and hopeless, Flordeliza fell on her knees to pray. She asked God to help her and give her hope. She asked God to give her a job so that she could support her children.

“Lord, please help me. I need to raise my children well,” she prayed.

Are you also facing challenges after challenges?

No matter how difficult life may be, there’s always hope!

It was also during this time that she chanced upon The 700 Club Asia. She found encouragement in the story of the testimony giver whose generosity to the ministry was repaid by God with a shower of blessings. Flordeliza was moved to give Php 300.

“I asked how to donate to The 700 Club Asia because I really wanted to,” she shared.

A few days after, she was recommended by a friend to a Korean employer who offered her a job as a caretaker. Along with this, is a salary good enough to take care of their family’s needs.

Because of this, she was able to provide for her children and send them to school. Now, she has stopped working because her daughter, who already graduated from college, volunteered to be the breadwinner of the family.

On top of the blessing, they have now acquired a new home and started their sari-sari store business!

God’s presence, help, and comfort are truly ever-present in times of difficulty. After everything Flordeliza has gone through, God was there to rescue her.

He can do the same for you. If you feel like your life is falling apart, call unto Jesus, and He will be your ever-present help.

“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NLT)

Do You Want to Bless Others, But You Don’t Know How?

Playing outside, watching television, reading books, meeting friends, going on a family vacation–these are what children usually do nowadays.

However, not all of them are privileged to have this kind of life.

Like Sid Espin. At a young age, he experienced a major challenge in his life.

Sid was born with Hernia–which happens when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle. Surgical repair is sometimes offered to patients to prevent further complications.

Because of Sid’s medical condition, he got bullied by other kids. “I cry every time they tease me,” Sid shared.

Sid’s grandmother, Rufina, shared their consultation with one of Sid’s doctors, “His doctor told us that he needs to undergo surgery, and we need to prepare Php 120,000. We don’t have enough money.”

They tried to reach out for help. Sid was about to have an operation at one of the hospitals in Davao but due to the pandemic, it was delayed.

Until one of Rufina’s acquaintances introduced Operation Blessing.

Operation Blessing is the humanitarian arm of CBN Asia. Their mission is to share God’s love by helping our kababayans in need through disaster response, healthcare, children’s program, and hunger relief.

With the help of Operation Blessing, Sid was referred to Tebow Cure Hospital. One of the good news they got was that they no longer had to worry about his medical finances!

Tebow Cure Hospital is a partner of Operation Blessing in giving hope to children with disabilities through life-changing surgery.

Rufina shared his grandson’s reaction when he heard about the news, “Sid said that he’s very excited because finally, his health problem will be solved.

After a long wait, in August 2022, Sid underwent an operation to treat his Hernia.

Rufina expressed her thankfulness, “Thank you to Tebow Cure Hospital, especially to Operation Blessing. They were the ones who led us to that hospital.”

Sid is currently enjoying his normal life with his family and friends.

“Thank you to Tebow Cure Hospital and Operation Blessing for helping me with my surgery,” Sid happily shared.

What If God Calls You to Give, But You Do Not Have Enough to Offer?

Would you be afraid? Or would you trust God?

Marie Betita, a Real Estate Agent, was called by God to give. However, she finds it difficult to give back to God because her husband is unemployed, and she is the sole breadwinner of their family. Thinking about the bills to pay and the expenses, she hesitates to do so.

Marie came to the point when she asked God to lend her money for her tithes, “I promised God that I would give if He could lend me some money.” Marie added that she cannot imagine that she was asking God for that.

One night, God touched her heart to respond to her calling when she watched The 700 Club Asia. She saw kids going to feeding programs to eat and did not have clean water to drink. It reminded her how blessed she is.

Do you have the same mindset as Marie?

“I have clean water to drink. I also have a job. All I need to do is to trust God. Though I do not have enough now, I was eager to give,” said Marie.

So, when Marie received her paycheck, she donated to God’s ministry.

God honored her obedience. Marie closed a deal and received Php 60,000 with Php 2,500 commission. She then decided to give her commission to The 700 Club Asia.

God proved she can never outgive Him!

Her Php 2,500 donation multiplied up to Php 70,000 when she sold a house! Marie’s doubts about giving to God perished when she learned how God works. All she needs to do is to trust the Lord with all her heart.

Marie feels like her cup is overflowing. As she responded to God’s call through giving, her whole life changed. He even surprised her with a house and lot that she won from a company raffle!

Indeed, God works beyond what we can think or imagine. As promised in His Word:

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV)

Is God calling you to give but you feel like you do not have enough to offer?

Trust God and hold on to His promises. Because when God calls you to do something, He will provide everything you need to follow Him.

Do you want to give and be blessed like Marie? You can partner with us and be a blessing to our kababayans!

If you are struggling with your finances and you need prayers, the CBN Asia Prayer Center is here for you. Call us at 8737-0700 or email [email protected].

Fresh Eyes to See God’s Goodness

Imagine what it feels like to feel weak around your eye and feel like something is pulling around it. Imagine having to tilt or turn your head just to see an image clearly. And imagine how confusing it is to see two different images at the same time.

During her early years, Diana Rose Alfonso’s life was filled with cuts and bruises, figuratively and literally, from always falling to the ground due to her condition. She was diagnosed with strabismus, or having crossed eyes, which made her early childhood difficult.

As a child, she loved to play with her neighbors around her age. But doing what seemed normal for other kids—playing, running around, and watching television shows—was extra challenging for her.

There were times she could run around and play, but at the risk of always tripping and falling on the ground.

Dally, Diana Rose’s mother, was pained to see her daughter incapable of doing seemingly normal things and not enjoying her childhood. She was also worried about her future.

“I’m afraid that she’d be unable to read and write. I’m worried that she might have a more difficult time in the future,” Dally said.

But her fears and worries were short-lived when Operation Blessing reached their town to help.

It was the year 2013 when the team first saw Diana Rose, and she was just 2 years old at that time. They saw how she tripped and fell after running around. Moved by compassion, Operation Blessing offered free eye surgery for Diana.

With Operation Blessing’s help and a volunteer medical team from the United States, the operation was successful. Finally, Diana Rose was completely healed from having crossed eyes!

God is indeed good, and He loves seeing people get healed. If you are in a similar situation right now, remember to “trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6, ESV).

It was the year 2018 when Operation Blessing visited Diana Rose and her family again. Six years passed, and they saw the huge impact of the surgery on Diana’s life.

She is freely and happily playing, without fear of falling, and enjoying the best of her childhood. She is also good at reading and writing, which brought so much relief to her mother.

A young girl’s life was changed, and a bright future awaited straight ahead of her.

“I’m happy to see her happy. We’re so grateful for Operation Blessing. God used them so my daughter could be healed,” Dally said.

Diana is just one of the many lives that God changed through Operation Blessing. And this couldn’t be done without your help.

Many of our kababayans are in desperate need right now, and you can be the light in the most challenging times—so they can see God’s goodness in their lives!

If you are moved by Diana’s story, you can partner with us to make something like this happen again!

Do you need prayers? The CBN Asia Prayer Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Send us your prayer requests or call 8737-0700!
