With love and care for Israel—this is how CBN Asia spearheaded Shalom Israel, a gathering of supporters on the rainy morning of July 2 at the famous heritage restaurant in Intramuros, Barbara’s.
Israel supporters unite to declare solidarity to God’s nation—headed by The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) CEO and CBN Asia Founder, Gordon Robertson and his wife Katharyn, Israel Ambassador to the Philippines Ilan Fluss, CBN Asia President and CEO Peter Kairuz, and Executive Vice President and COO John Tan. Faithful partners of CBN Asia and individuals and organizations who support Israel also graced the event.
While conflicts are raging and families in Israel face uncertainty, the ministry created a space where people can stand and show support for God’s chosen nation. In his inspiring message to the audience, Robertson looked back on how the calling to stand with Israel was first embraced by his father, CBN Founder Pat Robertson.
“In 1974, my father went to Israel and that’s when it started—we will forever stand with Israel. A pledge was made. No matter how unpopular it was and divided, either world opinion, American or public opinion, we will stand with Israel,” Robertson declared.
The gathering opened with the national anthem and blowing of the shofar, to mark the start of a blessed fellowship, followed by the anointed praise and worship led by Elohim Lord of Hope International Ministries. Heritage restaurant owner, Barbara Gordon Delos Reyes opened the gathering with a beautiful prayer.
The 700 Club Asia hosts Kata Inocencio and Alex Tinsay warmly energized the audience as they stepped in as the masters of ceremonies. Meanwhile, the Israel Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the prayers and support of the Filipino people, and friends from CBN Asia—highlighting Operation Blessing’s humanitarian efforts.
“The work of Operation Blessing in Israel, in supporting the poor who lost their homes, in supporting people who are challenged psychologically, emotionally, in bringing food assistance to those in need—this is something that we are very much appreciative. It’s a very potent gesture to make sure that the foundations of Israel, which are the people, are solid. And for this again, thank you very much,” Ambassador Fluss said.
He also cited the value of a support system during challenging times like this, “Israel is strong, and with friends like you around the world, Israel will not only survive—Israel will thrive.”
The gathering was not only filled with meaningful messages, but also heartfelt performances. Rhoze Rivera and John Bornilla graced the stage with a beautiful dance number while Pastor Ferdie Lazarte sang a Jewish song titled, Hinei Ma Tov (Behold How Good).
Furthermore, Veronica Gordon-Lorenzana shared her powerful testimony to uplift the audience, “In March 1980, God called me, and Jesus Christ has been my Lord and Savior. He called me as He calls all who are born again to be a watchmen and watchwoman.”
