Are You Being Robbed of God’s Peace and Power?

TEACHING by Pat Robertson

Build a better habit

One of the most formative experiences in my life occurred shortly after I became a Christian. God led me to leave everything I was doing and go on a month-long retreat to a camp in Ontario.

There I spent time praying, praising the Lord, and studying the Bible with a group of people who were on fire for God. And that is how I began a lifelong habit of having early-morning devotions every day.

Spending daily quiet time with Jesus is absolutely vital to your walk with Him. If you don’t take time to be in God’s presence, it is easy to get into your busy routine and lose sight of the things of the Lord. Little by little, your heart becomes encrusted and hardened.

Hosea 10:12 tells us, Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you NLT.

We need to start the day by focusing on Jesus. As Hebrews 12:2 says, Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith NIV.

If we just jump out of bed, grab a cup of coffee, and hurry off to work without spending time with the Lord, we have cheated ourselves out of a blessing.

Jesus loves us. He wants to enfold us in His arms and commune with us every day. When we spend time reading the Word, praying, and seeking His face, the light of God comes into our souls and fills us with His freedom, wisdom and power.

God bless you!
